July 4th 2026 in Los Angeles! Innovationist Outreach

Celebrations of 250 years since the signing of the Declaration of U.S. Independence were happening all around the Los Angeles area including huge celebrations in downtown L.A. and in Expo Park, home of the 1984 and upcoming 2028 Summer Olympics where track and field events and opening and closing ceremonies have been held and will be held again.  There were also drone shows and fireworks displays, live music and DJ shows, and all kinds of smaller community events and backyard parties, of course.

The Los Angeles group decided to take its’ outreach to a local community at a 4th of July Parade and Party in the Park that was attended by thousands of people in the San Gabriel Valley.

They set up a table in the local park complete with CPI books, pamphlets, flyers, palm cards, and a signup list.  There were signs with the tagline calling for ‘A Government of Action For Working Families,’ ‘The Four Point Economic Plan’, and ‘Finish the Revolution: End the British Empire System and Its Wars.’  And…. there was a U.S. flag.

Western Regional Captain Dan wore a CPI t-shirt and a pair of short pants adorning the American flag.

We had discussions with locals and family visitors from other parts of the country who were very concerned about the overall direction of the country and appreciated that we were there at a community event on this day with alternative messages than what usually broadcasted in mainstream media or have been circulating in family and workplace discussions, in the social media blogsphere, and even amongst some members of so-called political groups representing what is supposed to be left or right, conservative or liberal, or even centrist ideas.

We discussed the current economic realities of the majority of the working class, the insane wars and imperialism, the anti-imperialism that is rising around the world, and more.

We also included in the discussion how even with all of the misguided and horrible historical events and the atrocities of the modern times, we still need to take some time to acknowledge and celebrate what could be called a few bright moments.

A few bright moments would include the freedoms in the Bill of Rights, the accomplishment of ending involuntary slavery, and the amazing coalition in the 1930s that brought together a group of people with the President of the United States to create the New Deal which transformed the economy and a society that was deep in depression.

The working class and millions of people annually still benefit from the New Deal decades later with programs such as Social Security for retirement and also the disability benefits, unemployment insurance, and more.

REMEMBER millions of jobs were created by government programs such as the WPA and the Civilian Conservation Corps.

Let’s come together and demand a government for the working people…. again!
Let’s make sure history doesn’t always have to repeat itself.   That would be a REAL Celebration!
