What is Globalism/Imperialism?
A newly released video from the Center for Political Innovation explores the organization's understanding of Globalism/Imperialism, featuring remarks from CPI activists. The presentation argues that the current international economic order is dominated by large financial institutions and multinational corporations that profit from deindustrialization, austerity, and the extraction of wealth from both developing countries and working people in the United States. Speakers point to declining infrastructure, falling life expectancy, and the hollowing out of American industry as evidence of a system that benefits a small global elite at the expense of ordinary citizens.
The video also highlights countries that have resisted the existing international order, including Iran, Venezuela, Russia, China, and Burkina Faso. Participants argue that nations pursuing economic sovereignty and independent development are frequently targeted with sanctions, military pressure, or negative media coverage. Drawing on themes of anti-colonialism and anti-imperialism, the speakers contend that a multipolar world is emerging and that working people in the United States have more in common with populations resisting global domination than with the financial interests that direct foreign policy.
The presentation concludes with a clip of Kim Iversen highlighting Caleb Maupin's new book, Imperialism and Anti-Imperialism.
