CIA and MI6 are the Drug Dealers, Not Venezuela

By K. Venu

US threats against Venezuela, with a naval buildup outside the country, are being roundly condemned by the international community. Nicolás Maduro has argued this is being done to appease Marco Rubio, the US Secretary of State, who is tied in with a “Miami Mafia” of wealthy anti-communist expats from Latin America who have a particular interest in targeting Venezuela, Nicaragua, and Cuba.

Caleb Maupin, the founder of the Center for Political Innovation, appeared on WBAI Radio’s program Frontline Voices with Rebecca Myles on September 3rd and made clear that the allegations against Venezuela were absurd, saying:

“Maduro has made clear they are not a narco-state and he has the confirmation of that from the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime. They have done many reports showing that Venezuela is really an insignificant country in Latin America's drug trade. Uh, 70% of the drugs produced in Latin America come from Colombia, and if you look at a map, there is no reason that they should then go through Venezuela to get them to the United States. It just doesn’t make geographical sense.”

Caleb pointed out that the primary creators of the deadly narco gangs that plague the region were the Contras, whom the US armed against the people of Nicaragua in the 1980s, and the paramilitaries the US armed against the FARC in Colombia. He emphasized that drug gangs are part of globalism/imperialism, which keeps countries in bondage—going back to when the British waged two Opium Wars to keep China crippled with addiction during the Century of Humiliation. Caleb also highlighted that Cuba, Venezuela’s close ally, has the most effective anti-drug policies of any country in Latin America, something that has been admitted even by US DEA agents and academics.

The Center for Political Innovation condemns the threats against Venezuela and stands in solidarity with the Bolivarian Revolution. Caleb Maupin’s writings about Venezuela, having observed the revolutionary process up close, are available in his book The Siege Has Failed: Why Venezuela Stands Strong Against Globalism/Imperialism.
