Caleb Maupin speaks to the Iranian people

On March 4th, Caleb Maupin, founder and director of the Center for Political Innovation, spoke directly to the Iranian people via a live TV broadcast on PressTV, Iran’s English-language television network. Caleb Maupin spoke with a host based in London, representing the anti-war majority of the American people that opposes the war.

In the conversation, Caleb described the uniqueness of the situation in which opposition to the war was massive, with seventy-five to eighty percent of the public opposed. He also emphasized that, as a patriotic American and someone who knows people with relatives in the military, he understands that Iran has the right to defend itself from the criminal attacks it is now facing.

During the conversation, Caleb spoke about how the real enemy of the American people is not Iran but an international financial system based in Wall Street and London, and he praised Iran for breaking out of that system. When he reflected on how Khomeini had mobilized Iranians to build their country with a “construction jihad” after the 1979 revolution, amid the Iraqi invasion, the host was deeply moved, explaining that he had grown up during this time in a rural village that experienced this dramatic improvement in living conditions.

Caleb also touched on how Supreme Leader Khamenei, recently killed in a cowardly attack, had spoken up in support of the victims of US federal repression in Waco, Texas in 1993, during the deadly siege that killed 126 people. He also highlighted how Khamenei had spoken about police brutality in America. Caleb reflected on seeing Khamenei speak in 2015 as a life-changing experience. He further discussed how the Israeli-American strategy of murdering anti-imperialist leaders reveals the spiritual and psychological power of individuals who give voice to popular sentiments.

While US guests regularly appear on PressTV, since the war began on February 28th, American voices have been sparse. Caleb Maupin and the Center for Political Innovation maintain that his appearance was fully legal under the principles of freedom of speech and freedom of the press. It is important that Caleb speak for the anti-war majority, and in doing so he represented America’s true interests. He pointed out that the only future America has is breaking out of the globalist/imperialist system and joining a new world of multipolarity.
