Anti-War Musician Hit with Youtube Censorship
Folk musician David Rovics, a longtime favorite of anti-imperialists, was abruptly hit with a new level of censorship from the tech monopolies. He explained: “I received an email from a fan I had never heard from before on the day before Thanksgiving. He was emailing to let me know that all of my albums had suddenly disappeared from his collection on YouTube Music. When he tried to go to my channel, all that was there was a statement that this channel has violated YouTube Music's terms of service.”
YouTube did not ban one particular song, but seems to have decided that his entire persona as a musician violated “terms of service.” This is completely absurd, but it fits a pattern of harassment Rovics has been subjected to on other tech platforms and from woke leftists seeking to destroy his reputation.
“They single people out and try to make them untouchable,” explained CPI founder Caleb Maupin. “The cancel culture leftists team up with the tech monopolies and intelligence apparatus to try to neutralize sincere anti-imperialist voices.”
The Center for Political Innovation has proudly hosted David Rovics at events. Rovics’ “Song for the Houthi Army” was highlighted in the CPI book Who Are the Houthis? What Are They Fighting For?, which was distributed in bulk across the Chicago area at Palestine events throughout 2025.
