Amy Klobuchar Lies, Fearing Peace with Russia

In a recent video commentary, Center for Political Innovation Founder Caleb Maupin sharply criticized U.S. Senator Amy Klobuchar’s remarks on MSNBC about the war in Ukraine, particularly her claims regarding the alleged abduction of children by Russia. Maupin argued that removing children from active combat zones should not be portrayed as “kidnapping,” but rather as an emergency humanitarian measure during wartime.

“Taking children out of an active combat zone is not the wrong thing to do,” Maupin said. “It’s actually the right thing to do. Children should not be where bullets and missiles are flying.” He also pointed to cooperation between Russia, the Vatican, and U.S. officials in reuniting children with family members, calling this coordination evidence that the situation is being deliberately misrepresented to fuel anti-Russia sentiment. He pointed out that the White House has praised Russia’s efforts to reunify displaced children with their parents, and that Klobuchar’s claims don’t logistically make sense. Ukrainian children could not be going to the Vatican to meet US Senators if Russian authorities were holding them against their will and refusing to let them leave the country.

Maupin further accused Klobuchar of hypocrisy, referencing her past career as a prosecutor in Minnesota and criticizing what he described as her role in mass incarceration during the 1990s. He argued that her record undermines her moral authority to speak on family separation. “There are thousands of Black fathers in Minnesota who are not with their children because of prosecutorial practices like the ones she advanced,” Maupin said. He referred to what he wrote about Amy Klobuchar’s prosecutorial practices in his book Kamala Harris and the Future of America, that sold thousands of copies after Amazon temporarily banned it during the 2024 election cycle.

The CPI founder concluded that the narrative being promoted by U.S. politicians is designed to block peace negotiations and justify escalating military confrontation. “This kind of rhetoric is being used to shut down any honest discussion about peace,” Maupin stated. At a moment when a peace deal seems closer than ever, shrill neocon and anti-Russia opportunists are grasping at anything they can.
