“Working Families Need Peace With Russia” Labor Day outreach in New York and Minnesota

Members of the Center for Political Innovation took their special “Working Families Need Peace With Russia” leaflet to major Labor Day gatherings this week, speaking with union members and the public in New York City and outside the Minnesota State Fair.

In New York, CPI activists distributed literature the city’s Labor Day rally and march on September 8.  Irving Lee, retired New York City transit worker and member of Transport Workers Union Local 100 said: “I think our focus right now, other than typical wage and labor issues, is to deal with the question of the war.” Noah Shenk and Caleb Maupin got a positive response from many in the crowd who received the leaflet and found the image of the proposed Bering Sea tunnel very intriguing.

In Minnesota, CPI Regional Captain Penny Arcos brought the same message to people outside the Minnesota State Fair, using a megaphone and displaying a “Build the Peace Bridge” poster.

“Instead of sending our kids to war,” Penny shouted, “they can be building high-speed rail. America families will benefit from peace with Russia!” Hundreds of leaflets were given out to those going to the State Fair.
