Opposing Shen Yun in Minneapolis
On March 28, CPI members Gary and Penny intervened against the Shen Yun performance that is promoted by an anti-China group called Falun Gong. Passersby noticed their sign that said CHINA BEFORE COMMUNISM WAS FEUDALISM, which is the theme for the Shen Yun World Tour
Ironically, as millions of Americans were protesting against authoritarianism at the Soros-funded NO KINGS rallies, Falun Gong is pushing the narrative that life in China before Communism was glorious. Falun Gong is outlawed in China because they are trying to overthrow the government. According to the Chinese government, many people have died because of Falun Gong's faith healing doctrine that discourages people from taking their medicine
Facing the wind head on, Gary and Penny performed a skit and a song near the Orpheum Theater. Gary displayed a conical hat to represent peasant farmers who toiled endlessly in the fields and immigrants who risked their lives to pull wealthy people around in rickshaws. Penny brought an Empress hat to represent the Qing Dynasty that ruled by divine appointment from 1644 to 1912.
The Communist Party, under Mao Zedong's leadership, industrialized farming and organized distribution of crops to offset the impact of famines. He also modernized transportation and infrastructure. Today China has high speed rail all across the country. And they have built a magnificent skyline in Shanghai.

China before Communism was exploited by imperialists. Beginning in 1839, the British Empire fought two Opium Wars against China. After the British seized Hong Kong, China was forced to allow British merchants to control trade and to sell opium to pay for the tea they were importing. From 1898 to 1997, Hong Kong remained a British colony. This was known as China’s Century of Shame.
From 1931 to 1945, Japan occupied China, committing horrendous war crimes and crimes against humanity. They also used China's farmland for cash crops, starving the population for their own profits.
Currently the US Imperialists are trying to use Taiwan to provoke a war against China just as Japan did in World War II. But China was victorious over Japanese aggression in 1945. Since then, Taiwan has legally been part of China under International law. China is currently persuading Taiwan to reunite peacefully, offering to build high-speed rail projects that will improve their lives. Taiwan's current opposition leader, Cheng Li-wun, just toured Shanghai on a peace mission and saw first hand China’s magnificent advancements in technology and infrastructure.
