Minneapolis Reading Group Digs into Innovationism

In Minneapolis, CPI Regional Captain Penny Arcos has convened regular reading groups to discuss Khruschevism: A Study in Psychological Warfare as part of the national campaign. The regular meetups have dug into deep topics utilizing the text as a foundation.

Tom says:

“Working and learning with Penny on ‘Krushchevism,’ and how Krushchev fits into my memory of those long years ago, details of the ‘56 speech itself, the conflicts that  it brought and that it  continues to bring to this day, the reaction around the world, and in our country then and even now. Very satisfying indeed!

It’s also comforting, even reassuring to find new friends who largely agree with me, and with each other too! But still, each has their own take. Perhaps a slightly different emphasis in the storyline, or different word choices. I find myself scratching my chin as my understanding deepens.

Simply put, it’s inspiring to learn and understand our moment in the larger and longer history of citizen activism.

Oh, I know, I’ve been there too, alone, feeling isolated, ostracized! Still, working and studying with Penny and the CPI brings some relief, as in a larger and more complete narrative, I have come to realize that we are part of an ongoing and epic history of citizen activism, and in that sense, we are not alone.”

Gary says:

“I learned from the Krushchevism book that Kruschev’s secret speech was the beginning of the term “Cult of Personality” as we know it today. This characterization of Stalin dismissed all of the accomplishments of the Soviet Union, caused confusion in the Communist movement and was the basis for many psy-ops.

It seems that everything is a psy-op these days. Hence the need for a dedicated, inspired group of individuals to see through the psy-ops and debate clubs in order to bring their message to the masses.

I have enjoyed the study group because I like connecting with people, learning about them and building community.”
