Massive Outpouring of Support for the Islamic Revolution in Isfahan
Hundreds of thousands of people filled the streets of the Iranian city of Isfahan, chanting “For Iran, to the last breath,” as part of a wave of anti-imperialist mobilizations coinciding with the anniversary of the assassination of Qassem Soleimani, who was killed in a U.S. airstrike on January 3, 2020.
The protests were organized to show support for the Islamic Revolution and its principles of “Not Capitalism, But Islam” and “War of Poverty Against Wealth,” in the face of U.S.-backed destabilization efforts. While there is widespread debate within the country about its future direction, opposition to the Western imperialist system and Israel remains nearly universal.
Caleb Maupin, the founder and director of the Center for Political Innovation, has spent considerable time in Iran studying the non-Marxist but anti-imperialist and religious principles on which the Islamic Republic was established in 1979. Maupin was trusted enough by the Islamic leadership of Iran to conduct a face-to-face interview with Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi in 2023. A documentary narrated by Maupin, Iranian Dream(2015) has been widely broadcast on Iranian television and around the world.
