Global Day of Action: Hands Off Traore! Stand with Burkina Faso!
On April 30, CPI participated in a global day of action in support of Burkina Faso’s leader, Ibrahim Traoré. In response to public condemnation by a U.S. military official and multiple assassination attempts against him, organizers saw it as urgent for people around the world to show their solidarity.
In the United States, the People’s Democratic Uhuru Movement and the Black is Back Coalition responded to the call by organizing public demonstrations. The Center for Political Innovation (CPI) supported these protests, with a CPI member speaking at a rally in Chicago. CPI also held a small demonstration in Minneapolis, where activists unfurled a banner near the iconic Spoonbridge and on a major highway overpass that read: “Hands Off Traoré! Hands Off Uhuru! Hands Off Africa!”
