British Doctor Arrested for Saying “Victory to Iran!”

Across the United Kingdom, countless doctors have faced intense pressure from the General Medical Council (GMC) for calling for an end to the genocide in Gaza, for speaking publicly about attacks on healthcare, or for upholding international humanitarian law and medical ethics. They are subjected to public smear campaigns to discredit their reputations. Some have even served jail time or lost their medical licenses for participating in peaceful protests.

UK Doctors have even signed a petition calling for the resignation of the Chair and Chief Executive of the General Medical Council.

The message is clear: speak out, and you risk your career.

At the same time, Israeli doctors who have served in the Israeli occupation army are free to practice in the UK without any transparent investigation into whether they may have violated international law.

Dr. Ranjeet Brar, a member of the Communist Party of Great Britain (Marxist-Leninist) was arrested at his home recently for a public speech he gave defending Iran and calling for the genocidal colonial Zionist entity to be ‘wiped off the map’.  Although he was quickly released from custody, the GMC suspended his license for two weeks.

Not only does this affect Dr. Ranjeet's livelihood and his family's livelihood, but it puts more strain on the NHS medical system. Since the pandemic, median waiting times have increased to approximately 13.6 weeks (up from 7.8 pre-COVID) for 7 million patients. Over 136,000 NHS patients must wait over a year for orthopedics and general surgery.

But President Trump faced no charges for threatening to bomb Iran ‘back to the stone age’ and to ‘wipe out an entire civilization’. After Trump bombed a girls’ elementary school, killing over 160 civilians, he assassinated Iran's Supreme Leader (the equivalent of the Pope for Muslims) and murdered Iran's top military generals. He bombed a bridge and desalination plants. 

Yet nobody has held him accountable. 

On the contrary, American Congress members shame Trump for being weak and agreeing to a ten-day ceasefire.

“Victory to Iran!” “Victory to Iran!” Dr. Ranjeet shouted with a crowd of Palestine supporters outside the US Embassy in London on April 4. 

Dr. Ranjeet explained that parasitic financiers of London are driving these wars for their own gain. Their goal is to enslave the whole world, not to ‘free oppressed women’ or to ‘defend Democracy’. They want Iran's oil back that they seized in 1908. They see that Hezbollah and the Houthis and Iran's IRGC resistance forces are erasing the borders drawn by the  Sykes-Picot Agreement. The Arabs will once again be united across West Asia.

Dr. Ranjeet called for a resistance movement in the UK to expel American forces. He called for the Israeli and US embassies in London to be shut down and for the current government to be removed. 

One must wonder, “Where are the No Kings rallies?” 

Dr. Ranjeet was arrested two years ago for distributing a pamphlet equating Zionism with Naziism. The pamphlet contained a star of David with a swastika in the center. Since the Haavara Agreement in 1939, Zionists have collaborated with Nazis to send Jews to occupy Palestine. But saying so is a crime.

Dr. Ranjeet is a respected surgeon. He has committed no crime. This arbitrary arrest is unacceptable. It sets a dangerous precedent for anti-imperialists. We must all unite to denounce the arrest and persecution of Dr. Ranjeet and others who exercise their right to speak. The Center for Political Innovation stands fully behind Ranjeet Brar against this outrageous prosecution.
